Game report : Young Boys - Neuchâtel Xamax 0 - 0 Att. 5'750
------------------------------------------
For some odd reason, I keep sending you reports of 0-0 games. This time
again, I attended Xamax-YB (6-1) and cup Lausanne-Xamax (1-1 (pen. 4-1)),
and just got too lazy to send reports fully furnished with the nice notes I
took. I guess it's this 'way too many goals to describe' part which got me
off the job. Anyway.
I'm afraid I really haven't chosen _the_ ultimate game to write about, once
again. Both team definitely made a bad, bad 1st half. Let's just say that
Young boys probably were just a bit less bad than Xamax were. But really,
no opportunity worth being noticed took place then. So let's just begin
with the 2nd half.
47' Fryand gets a chance to go alone facing Delay (who replaced Corminboeuf
by the half-time), but an odd combination of a tackle by Perret and Delay's
presence prevented YB's number '9' to score.
64' Gerber runs alone toward Delay, he misses.
68' Gerber alone again. Delay makes a nice save.
68' Shame on the man. I meant Jeanneret. In that minute took place
something that, I know, is quite everyday 'routine' to professionnal soccer
players, but which I still cannot admit from a member of a team I support.
Jeanneret did send the ball out, Mr Détruche (that night's ref, if I'm not
mistaking, who didn't do such a great job anyway) gave the throw in to
Xamax. And Jeanneret, how obviously knew he shooted the ball out, did the
throw in himself, without any kind of visible second thought. Well, if
bringing that idealistic fair-play trend into such a tough professionnal
sport seems to be as hard -and probably desperate- act as making compulsive
speeding people -such as I- driving 120 on the highway, I still believe
football without all that unfair crap. Glad I said it.
80' Gerber all alone, once again. Delay saves.
Well Xamax did have a couple of 'kinda opportunities', even maybe one or
two good ones, such as YB did have some more. But really not that worth
mentionning it.
The whole very last minute was a very funny scene : Xamax did controlled
the ball within their own half, YB didn't want to come up to attack any
more - now I've seen better ways of protesting against an adversair not
wanting to play ;-). Anyway - and the whole attendance was whistling :-)
YB would've definitely deserved to win.
By YB the defensor Vukotic was probably the best, along with Berger.
Malacarné has been quite a few times too rude on Maslow while preventing
him to play. too bad. By Xamax, well, nothing to say, except that they just
didn't want enough to play. Too bad. Really. For I wasted 1 hour and 45
minutes.
Keep watching football.
Laurent.
