Match Report

Despite conditions bordering on irregularity (heavy rain in the last few days
made the grass look like a rice field), the game today was quite attractive.
GC dominated physically and had many more opportunities, but saw them saved by
an excellent Xamax goalie Corminboeuf.

When Kawelaschwili brought GC into the lead in the 74th minute after a pass by
Comisetti, many already believed in e victory, in particular when shortly
afterward, de Napoli had a great opportunity for the 2:0. Instead, however,
Magnin lost a ball in the offense in the 80th minute, Zambaz had a run across
the entire field, and after his well timed pass, new player N'Diaye scored the
1:1 after virtually the only Xamax opportunity up to that point.

In the final minutes, Xamax suddenly dominated and almost would have made the
1:2.

In other news today, Christian Gross was fired from his post as manager of the
Tottenham Hotspurs after 10 months.
